A womans life was saved from a horrific car accident by a special restraint system.

No, not a new kind of seat belt. A very tight cocktail dress.

Yep, you heard that right. Zoe Turner says her life was saved by a brand new, tight red dress she at first rejected, and then ultimately decided to wear that night.

As USA Today reported, after leaving a Christmas party at her mothers job, Zoe Turner, 21, grabbed a taxi with three friends. But soon after departing, a crushing accident occurred when a cement mixer rammed into the cab.

Zoe was on the side of the taxi where the mixer struck, and should have suffered catastrophic injuries.

But, incredibly, according to her doctors, the tight dress she wore was able to prevent any bones from popping out of place and rupturing vital organs, which could have caused fatal injury.

So amazingly, Turner escaped the wreck with only a broken pelvis. Painful, to be sure, but it could have been far worse.

Turner told ITV News:

I was in unimaginable pain. My body was aching and I just remember thinking I have to get my belt off. The pain and restriction my dress was causing was unbearable and I stumbled out of the car.

The doctors told me that if I hadnt worn such a tight dress which held in place my bones as the car impacted, I would have most definitely punctured vital organs as my bones went out of place.

Jezebel writer Kelly Faircloth (via Nick Morpus) seized the moment to make a tongue-in-cheek defense of wearing tight clothing:

Go ahead and order that leopard-print bandage dress thatll fit you like a vacuum-sealed packet of astronaut food. It could save your life! (OK, Mom? OK????)

Good one, Kelly. That dress is still too way too tight for this Texas gal, but it sure worked for Zoe.

Cost of dress: $54.

Value: Priceless.
